what we believe

What we believe:

Our Mission
What we do

We believe Jesus desires each member of His body know Him intimately, become like Him, and reflect Him in their family, to their neighbors and through their work.

We believe this maturity is achieved through becoming a community of worshiping, gathering, maturing, serving, and mission-minded disciples.

The true disciple in Jesus day knew that it was not enough to just learn from the teacher, they must be like him. Jesus' disciples were not satisfied just with His teaching, they wanted to do the things He did and be the kind of man He was! They knew He gave Himself for the entire community of humanity, and followed in His steps.

We believe God's desire is for the community's development of the individual according to His Word and by His Spirit. His body consists of individual disciples whose lives are not their own. It is through the giving of our lives for our friends that we are transformed into the image of Jesus.

To be a healthy disciple of Jesus, the individual must learn that individualism leads to ineffective and insufficient life. Only through accountability, instruction, loving discipline and the example of other mature believers is maturity in Christ attained.

We believe that a true disciple of Jesus will demonstrate passion in the pursuit of maturity.

Believers without passion are like a sailboat in a dead calm. The sailor sets the sail but goes nowhere without the wind. The sail helps moves the boat only when the wind blows. Many believers sense the presence of God and believe His presence is what moves them. God is always present! His presence is the believers sail. Most believers hoist the sail of His presence, but remain stationary because they need the wind of His passion! What moves or motivates believers is God's passion for them and for all of humanity. His passion is the wind. When believers comes to know His passion for them, their commitment to follow Him deepens and His passion becomes their passion. Therefore, they are moved into the passionate pursuit of being like the Master.

We believe that maturity in Christ leads to reproduction just as the natural world requires maturity in the reproduction process. As each young believer matures they come to know the importance of reproducing Christ in others. Reaching out to those in need of God's rescue becomes normal life, because that is God's life.

We believe that God uses ordinary people who are passionately committed to Him to go beyond the familiar community into the greater community of the world. In the Vineyard, we believe that one of the best methods of spreading the gospel is accomplished through church planting. Lighthouse Vineyard began as a church plant with a vision to be a church planting church. We are committed to seeing God work through us to reach out to the entire world!
